The 'Power of Love' credits

Last night, after our youth group meeting, I went to the second movie at the unimovies. It was a zombie movie which wasnt too bad. I like the post-apocalyptic style movies because people make all sorts of cool vehicles and inventions.

Humorous quote:
Guy A: I want to leave here and go up north, into Canada.
Guy B: Why would you want to do that, there's no people up there.
Guy A: That's my point.

I saw the humour in it. Not that many others did.

One other thing, I think there is entirely not enough use of the 'Power of Love' by Huey Lewis and the News, as ending credits. From last night's Zombie movie, to 'Luther' to 'Pride and Predudice', I reckon each of these could do well with the 'Power of Love' credits.

Of course once you are tired of the Power of Love, the other option is the Terminator 2 credits. But they work better with girly movies.

Maybe I need to cut down on the coffee....

My Bike

Car trouble

Sometimes I believe I am cursed when it comes to cars. The one I have now is only a few years old, but since I got it I have spent a fair bit on fixing it.
6 months ago the battery light came on and soon the car wouldnt start. I didnt know what it was and people told me that after about 5 years you probably need a new battery, so I got a new one from Kmart (cheapest around) for $120. When I got it to the car, the light stayed on. Took it to the auto electrician and got a replacement alternator for $275 ($150 cheaper than a brand new one from Ford). The guy said that the reason it died was that the power steering fluid was leaking into the alternator out of a faulty hose. Cheacked with Ford and was quoted $300 for a new hose. Went to a wrecker and bought a second hand hose for $70. The next day I just happened to be talking to my little bro (who works for Ford in Sydney) and he said that the problem was a tiny washer (should have been recognised and changed when I got a service not long before that). Grrr. Went to the washer place and the guy ended up just giving me about 6 of the damn things for free. Changed them myself and havent had a problem there since. I could have saved all that time effort and money if the person who serviced the car had bothered to put a new washer in. Needless to say, I wont be back to Keira Ford.
Just before my holiday away I went and got the car serviced. They told me that the rear discs were scored and I needed new ones, as well as new rear pads and handbrake pads. This amounted to $500. Which at the time was all the money I had saved for my holiday. Thankfully God sorted it out and I was still able to go and have a great time.
So, you would imagine my concern when all of a sudden, whenever there was a load on the engine that it started shuddering and losing power. I was pretty sure it was the gearbox and gearboxes cost lots. I learnt from last time and when I went to pick up my new bike on Friday night, took it straight to my bro to take to work during the week. He took it in and recognised it to be dodgy ignition leads. He put on some second hand ones that were kicking arond the workshop and he says it runs fine now. Big thanks to God.
Dont know what the point to the whole story is, but maybe that I should trust God more. He has it sorted out.

The Long Weekend

I had a great long weekend. Let me see what I did...
Friday after work I went to my friends house in Sydney for a night of 500. It was really enjoying. Good fun and banter was had by all. About 11:30 I said I should go home. They said that I should stay for one last game. I said alright. First hand I called misere and won (which is 250 points) and the second hand I called misere again and was overbid. So I called open misere and won!. Woo hoo. 500 glory. My poor partner didnt play a single card in the whole game.
Saturday was good also. Woke up at a respectable time and cleaned the garage, set up the drum kit, cleaned and vacumed my room, and ironed 11 shirts. Went to Stuart Park for sport and had Susan's goodbye that night. We had pizza and dessert at the church hall and then went to Namik's for coffee type drinks. Quite good.
Sunday had lunch with Tim and Jon at Caesars and did prep for service leading that night. Church was good but a bit quiet due to the long weekend and the grand final. After church we went to Pak and Stacie's house for some good quality after supper supper. Quite fun.
Monday was good too. Slept in, mmmmm. Then went to Stuart Park with Jon and Tim to kick a ball around. We met Irwan down there and walked along the bike track for a bit. Quite fun but it was really hot. At 3:00 we went to Susan and Morwenna's house to watch 'Luther' which was pretty good I thought. Went home after that and just enjoyed a quiet early night in. Good finish to the long weekend really.
