Yaaay Birthday!
It was my birthday on Sunday, and overall I have quie enjoyed it.
Saturday night Kester, Cath, Susan, Sally, Bry and I went to see 'The Bar at Buena Vista' at the Wollongong Entertainment Centre. It was fantastic. The grandfathers of Cuban music were really good. They had the old ones (70-87 years) and the new generation as well. On top of that there were 2 dancing couples on stage who did an awesome job of dancing to the faster songs. Very entertaining.
Before the show, we went out for dinner at the Vietnamese noodle place on Keira St. It was really nice. I had rice paper rolls for entree` which are a favourite. Kester and Cath gave me this cool necklace made of Jade and bone. Really cool. Once I crimp it to the right size I will wear it. They were also kind enough to subsidise my ticket for the show.
On Sunday I went to my mum and step-father's house in Sydney for a combined birthday lunch with my step-sister. It was lots of fun with much of my step-sister's/step-father's family there. My step-father's brother and their family gave me a 8 pack of miscellaneous beers from around the world. I enjoyed the 'Bin Tang' one which had the note on the bottle 'Best served with Friends'. It appealed to my sense of humour.
The food was really good with an entree` of little squares of bread, with mayo on it, then a shelled prawn and a little pepper on top. Mmmmm. I might have to make them next time I have people over for dinner.
Went home after that but was pretty tired for church. It was a good sermon by Sandy about the bible's idea of worship. He also talked about reasons people do/dont come to church which I think was challenging especially since I almost didnt go coz I was really tired. Many people wished me a happy birthday afterwards though and it was quite nice. Certainly glad I went.
Yesterday was awesome as well. Simon had rung me and organised to have lunch at 12:30. When I walked out of work, we walked up to the white seats and a bunch of the dudes were all waiting there. Suprise! It was sooo cool. They had a cake (ultra blue icing), cards and a couple of cool presents. They gave me an engraver and an electric screwdriver. Oh, and the most bizzare/cool one of them all: a bright orange skull topped container of sour chuppa chups! I didnt think he belonged at work on my desk so I took him home and put him in the kitchen.
Cool birthday. Quite enjoyable really. Thanks to God for cool brothers and sisters in Christ.
